3. The debut album from the group, CLIPPING - MIDCITY, takes my 3rd spot as my least favourite of their major discography. This is still a great and incredibly unique outing for the trio but I think they became more experimental and interesting with every album. Their instrumentals are bombastic and crushing, formed out of industrial and noise that is fringing on the most extreme and heavy side of the genres. Rapper Daveed Diggs brings some incredible flows but the production mainly steals the show as his lyricism is very basic and bland; lots of bragadocious tracks talking about money, girls, and swag. While the production provides an intense journey outside of the mainstream, they have not yet progressed to their full potential yet with most songs clinging to a simple melody (a term used very loosely) throughout it's runtime. A fantastic first effort nonetheless
