♯new ♯2022checklist ♯arcadefire ♯indierock ♯indiepop ♯alternative ♯folkrock ♯rock ♯altrock ♯folk ♯electronic 'WE' Tender and genuine, Arcade Fire continue their battle of earnest sentimentalism versus cynical desensitization with multiple nods to past albums, some critics herald this album as a "return to form." To me, this LP reflects the same great band, only with fewer synths, less electronic dancepop and a bit more accessible. The teenage rebellion found in 'Funeral' (2004) has evolved in middle-age into discarding naiveté and becoming part of the "the system" only in the sense of gradual change rather than rejection or upheaval. Arcade Fire are more than a band to trust or enjoy, -- their unique brand of weary optimism makes them a band one can believe in.
