♯new ♯2022checklist ♯rock ♯alternative ♯indie ♯indierock ♯folkrock ♯shearwater 'The Great Awakening' Returning from a 2016 hiatus, (and with the band ♯loma ) Jonathan Meiburg, not content to "make hopeless music" has reunited the Shearwater project aiming to counter the hopelessness of this ever-toppling era. While the bandcamp page has the "protest" tag, there isn't anything immediate or vehement -- it's mostly a meditative & dreamy sound, often with nature recordings and drowsy drawn-out lyrics. Perhaps I'm too cynical to appreciate the nuances-- the production is gorgeous at least!
