♯new ♯nowstreaming ♯npr ♯2019checklist ♯folk ♯indie ♯acoustic ♯portland ♯singersongwriter 'The Question' has various familiar tracks- "Worthless" sounds like Joan As Police Woman, "Fenceline" has a Phoebe Bridgers cadence, "Anthony" Snail Mail, "Homeless Child" a country-twangy version of Julien Baker-- etc. So it's genre-positive, it fits expectations found elsewhere, but because it's done well, the album isn't unappealing. Perhaps multiple listens are necessary to set it apart.
